3 Offline Ways To Advertise Your Small Business

3 Offline Ways To Advertise Your Small Business

Growing the customer base for your small business can be tricky. Although most people search online when they need a product or service, there are a variety of offline techniques that will draw attention to your business.

Logos

Your logo is an ideal way to make yourself known to potential customers. A silkscreen printing Dunkirk MD service can put your logo on just about anything, including shirts, vinyl decals and drinkware.

Design a logo that is unique and eye-catching, but not harsh to look at. Ask friends and family who fit the description of your general customer base what they think of potential logos. Make sure the logo matches the tone of your business. For example, a serious law firm likely would not be well-served by a cartoon logo.

Jingles

Radio and television advertisements may seem outdated, but many people still consume these media. Putting an advertisement on a local radio or cable station allows you to reach potential customers in your geographic location.

A jingle helps the message stay with the audience long after the ad is over. Use rhyming words and a catchy rhythm to help individuals remember the name of your company, what you provide and what makes you stand out from others. A professional can help you create the perfect jingle.

Word-of-Mouth

Perhaps the most trusted form of advertisement is word-of-mouth. People trust their friends and family to recommend good businesses, so make sure everyone at the business who interacts with customers is friendly and helpful. Always provide the highest quality goods and service that you can. Make it easy for customers to recommend you to others by providing them with sturdy business cards that they can give away.

Although it is considered standard practice to advertise through websites and social media, remember that these are not the only ways to reach your customers. What they see and hear in their own neighborhoods matters just as much.

Starting A Small Engine Repair Business Requirements

To have a perfect business idea can be a challenge. However, if you have been working as a mechanic and feel it's the right time to be self-employed, don't hesitate to go after your dream. You can start providing small engine repair services if you have the required skills. It won't be a walk in the park for you at first, but be patient with the business until you get your potential client's attention. However, before that, the following are some guidelines to consider when starting the business.

Plan your business
Planning is vital for any business operation. Come up with a clear business plan. A business plan acts as a guide and map to your business. You will understand what is required of you at every step of your business operation. Some of the important issues you have to consider are; the start-up capital, your target market, the amount to charge your clients for the repair services, business name, and so on. Make sure your business plan is realistic and can help achieve your future goals.

Form a legal entity
Establish a legal entity for your business. This is essential as it will protect your small repair business from being held liable in case it is sued. Check out the requirements of legalizing your business. Follow all necessary steps towards registering it. Consult an expert or a lawyer to provide you with the right procedure towards getting the right business registration. Make sure you acquire a business permit before starting it.

Register for taxes
You don't want the state and the federal government to be after your business because you haven't met the requirements. Ensure you have registered for taxes before opening the business. In order to register for taxes, apply for an EIN, which is really easy. You can get the EIN for free by visiting the IRS website, follow the application procedures, and you will receive your EIN in your email. Check out the taxes you must register to run your business safely.

Acquire a certificate of occupancy
Running a small engine repair store is similar to running a garage. A certificate of occupancy is a requirement for all businesses operating out of a physical location. This helps to confirm that you have met the building codes, federal regulations, and zoning laws. At this point, you can determine whether you wish to lease or purchase your preferred location. Make sure you obtain a valid certificate of occupancy for your business.

Get a business insurance
Insurance is not a legal requirement. However, it is essential for your business for its safety. The insurance covers your business in case of a loss. There is a variety of insurance cover against incidents like fire, theft, and so on. Visit a reputable insurance company and ask them to give you a list of important insurance that covers your business needs at the moment. Some insurance premiums are expensive. Consider a few which you can manage but the essential ones. Take time to discuss with your insurance company to help make the right choice.

How to Start an Online Business

How to Start an Online Business

The internet is a great place to build a business.  From the ability to contact countless customers to get to save money by not opening a physical store, you can create the company of your dreams.

Unfortunately, it's not as easy as buying a URL and posting on Twitter that your shop is live.  There are many behind the scenes steps every new business owner should take to prepare for their company.

Figure Out Your Product or Service

Chances are, you already know what you want to sell.  It doesn't matter if you're trying to sell fashionable pins or complex plotting machines; you need to make sure you have reliable sources for where you're getting the pieces of what you're selling.  Think about what your company stands for, as well, since many customers try to align a company's morals with their own.  If you're aiming to get a greener crowd, you need to source your parts and products ethically.

Decide How To Sell And Ship

Unfortunately, your products can't just fly off the shelves and ship themselves; you have to do it yourself.  Depending on your business's size and the demand for your product, you can hire a shipping business to take care of this, or you could start by doing the shipping yourself.  Make sure you have the supplies needed for these orders before you open shop.  Shipping can be done online, with some mail carriers even offering to pick up for free on their route, and it's a better option than trying to figure it out in person.

Study Up On Taxes and Laws In Your Area

Some areas require a higher sales tax on online goods, while others won't let people run a business without filling out tax paperwork.  Look into the small business laws in your area and decide your company's best action plan.  Things may seem overwhelming at first, which is okay as long as you take it to step by step.  If you need, there are forums where you can ask questions about taxes and small business laws, and you may also find some professionals and peers who are willing to help talk you through your start-up.  This plan may seem like a lot of work upfront, but it's work to do a business you'll be proud of.

Set Up Advertising

Making your ads can be the most fun part of this venture if you do it right.  Pay attention to where your customers would shop and when they would be active.  It wouldn’t help if you advertised St. Albert real estate to Twitter users in Ecuador, location matters.  Different age groups use other social media, and the divide in gender is accurate as well.  If you're aiming for older customers of either gender, Facebook is your best bet.  For women from thirteen to thirty-five, you'll get the best luck on Instagram, and Twitter is the hot spot for men of that age group.  Although there is a crossover between all of these, you should pay attention to where your customers go.

3 Most Common Traits of a Competent Real Estate Agent

via Pinterest

During the current coronavirus pandemic, many people have lost their livelihoods and homes, and are forced to declare bankruptcy. Many myths are floating around the market about buying or selling a home during this pandemic, especially those properties where owners were using the 1031 exchange code to invest their capital gains. You can learn more about such properties by clicking here.

But, homeowners who are forced to leave their homes are least concerned about these myths, and all they want to do is follow various tips to prepare their homes for sale. Staging a home for sale is not enough to get the best price because you need to have someone who can drive the hard bargain, and sell your house at the price it deserves. Competent real estate agents are the professionals who can do it for you, but it is a challenge to find the right one. We have discussed here the three most common traits of a competent real estate agent so that it gets easier for you to select the right one.

1. Strong knowledge base:

A competent real estate agent will always be cognizant of recent trends and terminologies of the real estate market. He will have a broad knowledge base, but he will not be a jack of all trades and master of none. Real estate is an incredibly broad market and all the good real estate agents identify their niche and build so much expertise in that niche that nobody can beat them. Therefore, if you wish to sell your house, you must hire a real estate agent who belongs to the niche of the housing market. Moreover, you would be better off if he has a good grasp on the local housing market because it will enable him to understand the nuances of the local market and settle on a unique pricing strategy.

2. Stellar relationship network:

Always remember that real estate business does not allow people to work in silos, and those who choose to do that, do not see the light of the day. This is why all the competent real estate professionals will have strong networking and the real estate agents are no exception to this rule. Therefore, make sure that the real estate agent you hire has a strong network of connections with all the major players of the real estate business including buyers, sellers, appraisers, mortgage officers, loan officers, and others. You will be able to validate their strong network because, within that community, you will find many people talking about those particular real estate agents.

3. Engaging personality:

The personality of a real estate agent plays a vital role in determining whether a property would be sold or not because real estate brokers are not only tasked to sell properties but also themselves. Therefore, if their personalities are not engaging or they do not understand the art of selling themselves, they will not be able to sell the properties assigned to them. Always remember that good real estate agents will come across as honest, meticulous, and confident individuals. They will have a positive vibe that will make you believe in them when they say something, and if you happen to find such an agent, hire him on the spot.

3 Ways to Stay on Top of Your Taxes Year-Round

taxes, business, income tax

For most of us, tax season is finally over since all taxes for 2019 were due on July 15, 2020. As you heave a sigh of relief at having successfully filed your various forms, it's time to start thinking about next year's taxes. While you might feel sick at the thought of words like deductibles, tax credits, and adjusted gross income, if you take these steps now, next spring will go much more smoothly for you.

Talk to Professionals

Taxes are not your specialty, but they are one of most accountants' areas of expertise. Through sources such as TaxFirms.com, find an accountant with whom to review your filing process. Ask him or her for tips on how to improve your record-keeping and save time on next year's taxes. While you must pay this accountant for your meeting, doing so establishes a professional relationship with this person. Hopefully, he or she can help you with your taxes next year.

Keep Good Records

It's tempting to be lazy about filing receipts and recording tax-deductible donations. You think that you'll remember where you donated those 500 dollars now, but come next spring, you'll have completely forgotten. Save yourself a million headaches by keeping all your receipts until you note the cost of your purchase or donation, the date, and the company in a secure location. Check out the various apps for financial record-keeping on your smartphone's app store, or use a notebook if you prefer to write down your financial information.

Save Your Tax Forms

As tax season approaches, your company sends you forms with information about your salary, taxes paid, and taxes due. Even if these forms are also available online, do not throw them away. Keep them all in a clearly-labeled folder, and take pictures or scan them to be extra safe. Watch out for tax forms that your business may release in the middle of the year if your employment status or address changes. Remember, you need a form from each of your workplaces, so if you have multiple part time jobs, you can't complete your taxes without information from each one.

Right now, all you want to do is forget about taxes until next spring. While this approach is tempting, force yourself to be proactive about taxes all year. This strategy requires more thought, but when you file taxes like a pro next spring, you'll be glad that you took the time to stay on top of your financial information.

Four Tips to Select the Perfect Security System for Your Business

As a business owner, you need to know that everyone’s safe working at all times. The question is, how can you lookout for unwanted activities and situations that might occur. One of the most and most common ways by which organizations can avoid burglary, theft and other counterfeit activities is by installing a proper CCTV camera at prime locations, along with a security room to monitor the recordings from these cameras.

However, is that everything that you should be looking for? With technological advancements around the clock, it becomes difficult to choose the perfect security system. Research on the subject might be of some help. The right home and business monitoring products do help.

security system, business, home and business monitoring products, CCTV camera

The Top Four Tips to Help You Get the Security System You Need for Your Business

Here are four tips to help you select the right security system for your business.

1.    Access Controls

It is one of the most significant features to look out for in the perfect security system. The system that you select must have the option to allow who can access its settings and other functionalities.

One of the latest advancement is to access your camera with the help of your phone. This way you can access your recordings while you are away. Many systems today also have a monitoring system that gets in touch with you as soon as a break-in or a casualty arises. This way you can stay away without any fear.

Companies charge a certain sum of money to provide these services. Make sure that you understand the costing element up front to avoid paying indefinite amounts of money later.

2.    Choosing the Right Feature

With so many options available, it all depends on what features your business would prefer. Does your organization function late in the night? Are night vision cameras required for round the clock surveillance? Is your security system capable of sensors such as flooding, thundering or smoke?

Even if your business is involved in the storage of large amounts of data, a proper security system needs to be in place. Hence, choose what is best for you.

3.    Camera Quality and Wiring

Invest in cameras that are high quality and record proper footage. You do not want to get a blurry image of the culprit. It can be expensive, but it is fantastic.

The wiring of the security system can be a perfect way for the burglars to identify the connections and hamper them before looting the organization. Go for wireless security systems when possible, and ones that record videos in high definition.

4.    Growth in Business

If you want your business to continue for an extended period and grow significantly, you may have to make an appropriate decision on the security system. If you wish to move out of your current location in a few years, use a system which would be beneficial to you. It positively influences your decision and mindset.

These four tips will help ensure that you have a foolproof security system in place, and one that isn’t going to be easy to get past.

Tips for Running a Business and Being the Best Mom Possible

Being a parent is a tough job and it is even tougher when you are a mother and an entrepreneur. Starting your own business is a huge accomplishment but an even larger one is running a successful business while not alienating your family. The juggling act can take months or even years to master as children change as they age. An infant is going to need much different attention than that of a rebellious teenager. For those overachievers there are going to be times that you have to call it quits for the day to be a mom rather than a founder of a business. The following are tips for moms that also run a business to be the best mother possible.

Parenting Tips, parenting, mompreneur, motherhood, business, running a business, work at home mom,

Setting up a realistic weekly schedule

Setting up a realistic weekly schedule does not involve working 90 plus hours during the week and taking the kids to school daily. You need to balance work and family so set goals for each week for things that you need to have done, want to have done, and would be nice to get done. This will help prioritize your work for the week allowing you to be as efficient as possible. Taking on too much will only leave you or your family disappointed so avoid this completely.

Outsource tasks that are time consuming/cheap to source

There are going to be things like data mining or finding contact information that is going to be time consuming yet inexpensive to outsource. Go to a freelancer platform like that of Upwork to find someone to help you out. These freelancers have ratings along with their specific skills whether it is sorting your emails or compiling a list of sales targets for the month. Everyone has that task they know nearly anyone can do but they hate doing, simply outsource it for a fraction of the cost of your time.

Working while the kids are asleep

Working at night or early in the morning can be a great time to get more done than you can when the kids are running around the house. Being able to get this work done can allow you to come home early from the office or call it a day early if you run your business from home. Children that are in school leave a working mother quite a bit more time than those on summer break so keep this in mind. Certain industries have busy times of the year so just hope that this does not occur during the summer for your business.

Depending on how many children you are managing, you will want to consider a time and place where you can get the important paperwork sorted out without interruption such as the contract management process. What you can do is work from a different part of the house, where you can hear yourself think.  If your Wifi doesn't reach that part of the house you can access your mobile hotspot and access the important documents through Cloud Contract Management by GatekeeperHQ. After that you can focus on relaxing.

Find time for yourself

You are going to need to find time for yourself so you can recharge both your professional and parenting batteries. Lack of time to relax can result in irritability and overall decrease in production regardless of what you are doing. Rejuvenating yourself can be done in a variety of ways whether you are using diffusers for essentials oils to help relax in the bath or in your bed room. Using a diffuser can also help the home start to smell great which can help you reduce time you might spend cleaning. It is all about being efficient as a mother entrepreneur.

As you can see the above tips help a mother accomplish the nearly impossible balancing act. There will be growing pains implementing certain tactics but it will be well worth it when you succeed as a mother and in business!

5 Maintenance Tips For Your Business

Your business has structures and equipment which it depends on to function smoothly and its success relies heavily on the condition of the two elements. Every now and then, you’re bound to find some few things within your business that are off tune and need some maintenance done on them.

Performing maintenance is, therefore, a key aspect of the smooth running of your business. Here are 5 maintenance tips that you can implement in your business:

1.    Perform Systematic Checks On Your Business

Most of the maintenance needs that arise in your business are as a result of ignored minor problems that have built up gradually over time. These problems become noticeable once they have really grown big. For instance, a blocked gutter within your business premises will become noticeable the moment the gutter falls off.

To spot these problems early, you can carry out systematic checks to your business premises to identify any problems and then perform maintenance on the areas with faults. Make a checklist in your business and inspect every single thing and afterward perform an all-round maintenance.

2.    Avoid DIY Maintenance

Most people are accustomed to doing things for themselves more so repairs when an issue arises within their premises and it’s always effective at the end of the day. But for your business, DIY maintenance is not the best thing to do regardless of whether you have the skill to do it, the reason for this being that it will interfere with your business schedule and consume much of your time.

Time is everything for you as a business owner or manager and spending too much of it on doing maintenance yourself rather than focusing on your core competency will cost you a lot. Consider paying a professional to do the maintenance work for you while you focus on performing your daily business activities and keep the wheels of your business rolling.

3.    Avoid Ignoring Or Postponing Repairs

Ignoring detected problems which need repairs within your business is setting yourself up for unaccounted heavy costs in future. A good rule of thumb is when you do systematic checks on your business premises and equipment and notice any problem that needs maintenance, take action to perform all the vital repairs immediately.

The cost of repair is way much less than the cost of replacement. Repairing a broken gutter in your business premises is much cheaper than replacing it with a new one once it’s completely damaged if repairs are ignored or postponed. Avoid postponing maintenance needs.

4.    Upgrade Your Business

Believe it or not, one of the most effective maintenance tips for your business is to completely eliminate the need for maintenance in the first place. The only way to do this is to modernize your business by getting rid of the old elements that need constant maintenance done on them and upgrade them with new ones that do not require maintenance.

5.     Maintain A Fresh Environment

The atmosphere of your business matters a lot and such, an important maintenance tip is to ensure that your air conditioning system is in good working condition. Your HVAC unit should be checked regularly. Contracting an expert to do the maintenance for you is an excellent approach.

If you run your business in Sydney Australia, you can consider consulting with Peninsula Air Conditioning Company for the best and most professional air conditioning maintenance and repair services. Check out their website on https://www.penair.com.au/

Focusing on the Positive Side of Life

Finally got the courage to make a post. It's hard kasi for me to write without shedding tears. It's even harder to write a positive post. I have been emotionally down for the past weeks. In fact I had a breakdown. It was a temporary relief to burst out all the pain I am feeling inside. Because there are so much more, so much more I am holding inside.

But just when I am losing my faith in God, out of nowhere, I sang this

"Teach me to trust in You with all of my heart
To lean not on my own understanding
I jut forget
You won't give me what I can't bear
Take me out of the dark, my Lord
I don't want to be there..."

Oo nga naman, maliit na bagay hetong pinagdaaanan ko. I shouldn't lose my faith in Him, rather I should keep my faith even stronger. Because God is holding me and I should hold on.

So I decided to focus on the positive side of life. Wala naman mangyayari if I will keep on dwelling with all the negative things that's happening. Sabi ko nga, wala pa itong pinagdadaanan ko sa pinagdadaanan ng iba. I am blessed and I have people who keep me smiling. O sha, magshare na lang ako ng positive vibes.

Let me start with my brother's new business. Two years ago, he established his first ventured business with our cousin. However, unfortunate things happened between them and my brother left the business. The business is still running now. My brother experienced financial difficulties from 2014 until early last year. With our help and God' grace, he slowly get over and now he have his own business.

We visited his newly opened poultry supply store. Marami pang kulang but still I am happy for him. Finally, he is slowly but surely fulfilling his dreams.

Also, he's helping us with our new babies!

These are just few of the blessings we are continuously receiving. That's why there's no room for negativity in our life. God is so good and what we are going through now is just a test. Win or lose, we will emerge as a better and stronger person.

So if you are like me who's in a difficult situation, just look and focus on the positive side of life. God is with us.

Have a Blessed weekend.

Stress Free Retirement, I Want!

Last week I got a chance to talk to one of our colleagues at work. On our way to our meeting at our head office, we talked about having extra income aside from our current full time work. He told me that Daddy Allan already told him that we are into online shop business and I said yes but it's not yet in full bloom.

He then said why not can we exert full effort on the business because not all are blessed with this opportunity. I got his point but I still have my full time work and as mush as possible I don't want to mix business with work. But I will admit that sometimes I am guilty of using my idle time at work doing some business.

Also, I feel that in order to fully operate my own business I must give up my work. I believe I cannot serve two Gods at the same time. I need to choose, and besides we still have less than 4 years to pay for our house amortization.

Maybe he don't get my point. I just want an assurance that we can pay our house for the next 3 years, then after that I can decide whether to quit my work or still work until our ideal retirement age of 40. Yes, I want to retire at 40 and focus on our business. But still thinking of immediately resigning after we pay the house or when we have enough emergency funds.

A Working Woman to a Working Mom

Lately, you may have noticed that I have fewer posts. As much as I want to spend more time blogging, I can't because I need to give more time to my full time work.

I have been working since 2003 so its 11 years now. When I was still studying, I already envisioned myself to be working in a big company. At that time it was my greatest dream and I thought it's all an easy glamorous life of a working woman.

So after graduation, I wasted no time and make a resume. Speaking of resume, making one now is so easy because onlineresume builders has an app to help you. Later on when I landed my first and current job, I got to experience what they called the corporate world. This had woken me up from my dream and that the reality is, working in a corporate world is not an overnight success. I need to start from the bottom, and carefully climb up. The struggle is not easy as you need to deal with people with different personalities and understanding. Also, in this company I am working since 2003, there are more men than women. But I can see that men and women here are equally treated by the management. And I think even in other company, gender is not an issue.

Now from a working woman to a working mom, it doubles the work and responsibility and the time becomes limited. But I can see more woman and mothers who are successful in their chosen field of work. There are more and more women in business and finance, and even in politics. So it's no doubt that women can do better and be successful just like men.

If you will ask me if I regret working instead of staying at home. I will say no but I will not deny that after having a baby I wish I can just stay at home. It took me over 3 years to realize that this is God's plan for me. Besides this is my first dream and I love this work. This work of mine had helped me overcome my shyness and boost my self confident. I learn a lot from it and it transform me to what you can see me now. And this work help me gain true friends.

As I have already said, I plan to retire earlier from the corporate world. This is to enjoy my life more and to establish my own business. I want to fulfill my dream of becoming a mompreneur. My goal is to help more people, particularly women or moms, and to share the skills I have learned.

I know this is just one of the million stories of working woman or mom. If you happen to be one or know one, it's my pleasure to read your story.

Have a nice day!

#GLOBEProjectWonderful2014: Livelihood for Filipino

On the news the other night was another violent demolition at Agham Road in Quezon City. The problem in urban poor and illegal settlers have been ages now. It's been ages but no best solution have ever been formulated. I wonder why? What went wrong? What's lacking our Government? What Philippines don't have right now?

Those are the questions that are running in my mind whenever I am watching such violent scene. It's like history repeats itself and it's a recurring problem. How can we ever end poverty? This push me to write about #GLOBEProjectWonderful2014.

“If there is one thing you can give to the Philippines, what is that gift?”

Financial help will never be enough. Come to think of it. Local governments always give financial helps that the settlers will accept. They will then be moved to the relocation areas where they will have their own homes. But after sometime, they will go back to the city and choose to be an illegal settler again. Why? Because again financial help is not enough.

New Year, New Business

If there's something I am so thankful for 2013, it's a better family relationship. If you remember, I have posted something not so good going on within our family (my family side). My brother and I used to be not in good terms because of,  even if it's so shameful to admit, money. I will not go into more details anymore because I want to leave what had happened behind and move forward to a best 2014.

What's important is that my brother and I had patched our differences and has a much better relationship now. Actually, he lives with us. Thank you very much to my understanding husband, Daddy A. Anyway, enough of the drama because I am happy to share that my brother has become more responsible now and in fact he, together with one of our cousins, ventured into business.
