7 Secrets to Beat the Holiday Stress from MAGGI

The 'ber months are here, and Filipinos are already sensing the Christmas spirit. It's the time when families prepare for the most awaited holiday in the Philippines. Yet, as with any occasion, timing plays a crucial role in making Christmas the most enchanting celebration of the year!
As the reliable ally of Filipino cooks in the kitchen, MAGGI recognizes that food, and the act of sharing it with family, lies at the heart of the holiday season. "Christmas is when home cooks bring out their most cherished recipes – the ones they love to cook and that their families delight in sharing, especially during Noche Buena. MAGGI is here to support Filipino home cooks in making Christmas more magical as they prepare, cook, and transform their dishes into a delightful Noche Buena feast," stated Ms. Raine Calma, Food & Dairy Culinary Recipe Marketing & Digital Lead.

From selecting recipes and buying ingredients to cooking and hosting guests on Christmas Eve, MAGGI shares seven secrets for a stress-free holiday season!

1. Explore menu-making hacks – Homecooks need a game plan and MAGGI (https://www.maggi.ph/magicalpasko) is here to serve some menu inspiration. Noche Buena cooking is made easier with access to over 100 recipes that make holiday meals extra special. It's best to lock in your headcount so that you can modify the recipe based on the number of servings you need.

2. Make a list and check it twice – With a menu in place, it’s time to check the pantry and do an inventory of ingredients. List down the quantities of items needed before heading to the supermarket. A quick check in the grocery's online shelves can help ensure stocks and availability. Holiday traffic is real and so grocery runs should be planned in advance.

Asian Christmas Collection

3. Do a test run if cooking a recipe for the first time – Trying out a new dish can be overwhelming. With enough lead time, homecooks can do a trial and have loved ones give comments to improve on the dish. By using only the best seasonings like MAGGI Magic Sarap and its variety of Savor and cube products, they can transform any dish from pwede na to sarap-sustansya and magical levels.

Relyenong Bangus

4. Make ahead whenever possible – Cooking everything all in one day can be tiring. Homecooks can start pre-cooking certain components of the dish to help lessen their kitchen load on celebration day. Meat stews, marinades, embutido, pasta sauces and cookie batter can be prepared a few days ahead. This means planning for fridge space will be crucial to ensure dishes keep well until it's time to serve them.

Classic Embutido

5. Save the fresh for last – Fruits and vegetables can be purchased in the morning to retain its reshness. Adding fresh pineapple to an all-time favorite fruit salad will elevate the dish.

Chicken Macaroni

6. A little help goes a long way – This is the perfect bonding time for the family, when homecooks pass on their cooking techniques and share their passion for food with their children. The joy in cooking will translate in your dish, too!

Beef Caldereta

7. Give your Noche Buena table setting an added flair – Adorn the dining table with bits and pieces of Christmas to make the Noche Buena gathering even more memorable. It can be as simple as a red ceramic platter for your chosen entrĂ©e, scattering a few Christmas balls or adding candles with gold ribbons for an added touch of magic.

Magical Fried Chicken Sinigang

Calma emphasizes that these tips from MAGGI aim to assist home cooks in managing their time, resources, and energy. "The holiday rush can overwhelm us because we only want the best for our loved ones. Proper planning can make a significant difference, allowing the family more time to celebrate and enjoy their most magical Noche Buena yet."

4 Easy, Affordable, Healthy, and Fun Summer Recipes for Kids

Is your kid a picky eater?

Try these 4 easy, affordable, healthy, and fun summer recipes to get your children enjoy veggies

4 Easy, Affordable, Healthy, and Fun Summer Recipes for Kids

For kids, summer means having adventures outdoors but quarantine restrictions have put a pause to that. Parents have to get extra creative in ensuring their children still have fun and lead healthy lifestyles even if they’re mostly indoors. Ajinomoto Philippines Corporation is helping parents this summer by sharing creative, affordable and delicious, yet easy and nutritious gulay recipes that will add colors and adventure to their kids’ plates at home.

“We understand the challenge parents have in making meals for their kids, especially in encouraging them to eat vegetables,” says Ajinomoto’s Science Communication Executive, Deborah S. Fajarda, RND. “Through these veggie recipes, we want to address this concern and provide creative ways on how parents can make nutritious dishes enjoyable and fun for their kids. We want to show that mealtimes can be both a healthy and adventurous journey for parents and their children.”

Here are 4 easy, affordable, healthy, and fun veggie recipes that Ajinomoto developed for parents to enjoy with their kids at home:

Crispy Fry® Cauliflower Bites
Add a satisfying crunch to your kid’s meryenda with the easy-to-make Crispy Fry Cauliflower Bites. This could be an alternative to snacks like chicken nuggets. Cauliflower is high in potassium. Potassium, in right amount together with sodium, helps maintain fluid balance in the body which is important during the hot weather. CRISPY FRY® Breading Mix gives the crunch that kids love, while the SARSAYA® Sweet and Sour sauce offers a tangy flavor to make this snack even more special. Read the full recipe here.

Mini Spinach and Cheese Pizza
Make pizza healthier with this variant that uses spinach. Spinach is rich in calcium, iron, and vitamin A, which help in strong bone and muscle development, maintaining good eye sight, healthy red blood cells and strong immune system for growing boys and girls. This recipe uses PORKSAVOR® All-in-One Seasoning Mix, which adds a meaty taste that children will enjoy. They can also join in preparing the pizza by adding the toppings all over the dough. Copy the recipe here.

Mixed Veggie Kiddie Patties
These patties can be enjoyed as an ulam or as a snack between hamburger buns. These are made from chicken breast, which contains more lean protein and less saturated fat and cholesterol. The ingredients also include cucumber, broccoli florets, and bell pepper, which are also filled with important nutrients. Not only is it healthy, but also simple. You can make this in 4 easy steps. Make the patties crunchier with the CRISPY FRY® Seasoned Crumbs. See the recipe here.

Fun Camote and Carrot Fries
Squeeze in that extra beta carotene into your kid’s meals by turning carrot sticks into “fun” fries. This bright and naturally sweet veggie is a great way to entice picky eaters. To make it more appealing, you can also mix it up with sweet potatoes or camote. Here’s a fun fact too! Did you know that camote, or sweet potato, is rich in potassium, vitamin C, vitamin A, and fiber to keep bodies healthy. Adding AJI-GINISA® Flavor Seasoning Mix will also bring a meaty stir-fry deliciousness that will elevate this snack. This Fun Camote and Carrot Fries only takes 15 minutes to cook, so kids have something to eat right away when feeling hungry. You may also opt to use an air fryer to lessen fat content. Follow the recipe here.

With these recipes, Fajarda also reminds parents to know the recommended amount of vegetables needed by their children to ensure a balanced diet. For ages 3 to 5, 1/2 cup is ideal, 3/4 cup for ages 6 to 9, and 3/4 to 1 cup for ages 10 to 12.

“These recipes are clever and fun ways of adding vegetables to kids’ daily menu---and making them can even help parents encourage healthy routines and strengthen their bonds with their young ones. Involving our children into meal planning and cooking, such as reading recipes and learning about veggies can likewise help them know about proper nutrition in a fun and tasty way,” says Fajarda.

These healthy and creative recipes are part of Ajinomoto’s Eat Well, Live Well commitment. Ajinomoto has dedicated itself to developing ideas and creating products and services that aim to improve the wellness of Filipino households.

10 Healthy Recipes with Cheese You Must Try

Pizza and sandwiches are some of the most popular foods that people associate with cheese. However, cheese can be used with many more foods. It packs a good punch of protein too, so you are not taking it just for the taste. When used well, cheese can turn food from just food, to extremely delicious food. If you want to make cheese at home, you need all the cheese making supplies such as a cheese maker. More than anything else, you need to know where to buy rennet, which is the most important ingredient of making cheese.

pasta, pasta recipe, recipe, easy recipe, food, meals, home, home cooking

Here are 10 cheese recipes that you must try out:

Toasted Pumpkin Seeds, Olive, Feta And Watermelon Salad

Although many people say that this feta cheese salad is perfect for hot weather, you can eat it whenever you like. It is so delicious and as you can see from the ingredients, it has a lot of nutritional value for your body. You will dress it with soy, chaat masala and lemon sauce so that you can tone down the sugar from the watermelon. It is so easy to make and should not take you more than 5 minutes.

Frittata Made Of Feta And Lamb

Frittata dishes are known for their juicy taste, but they do require some effort to make. This one is perfect for the weekend when you are not going anywhere. You can surprise your family. You will require many ingredients such as garlic, olive oil, large eggs, black pepper (ground), whole yoghurt, basil leaves, ground lamb, feta cheese and many more. When you are done cooking this dish in the oven, you can serve it with accompaniments like rice or fries.

Caprese Salad

This is another of the best salad dishes that you can make with cheese. It is incredibly easy to make and it is recommended that you make it when tomatoes are in season. It is simply a mixture of cherry tomatoes arranged with mozzarella cheese on a platter and seasoned with salt and black pepper. The dish is then sprinkled with oil and left to sit for about 30 minutes for the tomatoes to release their juice. It is mostly accompanied by bread. No fire involved – delicious.

Pasta –With Four Cheeses

With this one, you will be taking a dish of pasta that has been made with all of four cheeses. Cheddar, emmental, brie and parmesan will all be present in this simple dish. It just requires you to set aside 10 minutes of your busy schedule and you will have it piping hot and ready to eat. Pasta matches with almost all types of cheese. That is what makes this dish so delicious and you can be sure your kids will love it.

Classic Macaroni And Cheese

If you are making this one for your kids, you can never get it wrong. Kids simply go gooey at the sight of macaroni and cheese. The best thing is that macaroni goes nicely with all cheeses. In less than five minutes, you will have this dish ready to serve for your kids. Any cheese will work but it is best that you serve it with shredded cheddar cheese.

Cheese And Mushroom Mac

This is another macaroni dish, only that this time you will be using mushroom, macaroni and gruyere, parmesan and cheddar cheeses. It is classified as a comfort food, the kind of food that you make when you want to feel happy without caring too much about the nutritional value. It takes a short time to prepare the ingredients (there are many of them), and the cooking time is about 1 hour.

Herbs, Spices And Marinated Goat Cheese

This is easy to make, but you will have to marinate the goat cheese for a couple of hours. As the name suggest, you just use oil, herbs, spices and of course goat cheese to make it. You will cook your cheese over a swirl pan, let it sit for some time and then bake it in a preheated oven until the cheese turns a golden brown color.

Roast Pepper With Greek Feta

The Greeks love their cheese and so will you when you have a taste of this taste bud exploding dish. You will need bell peppers, garlic, thyme, olive oil, kosher salt, vinegar, black pepper and other ingredients. You will have to slice and roast your bell peppers in an oven preheated to 300 degrees.

Ricotta Cheese With Sweet Potato Crisps

You will need to season ricotta cheese with lemon juice and salt, and let it sit for some time. By then you can be preparing your sweet potato crisps and then serve together. This is one of the simplest recipes to make and it is incredibly delicious.

Feta Cheese With Tomato And Pistachios

Just slice the tomatoes into four pieces, season them with salt and let them sit. Toast your pistachios in an oven preheated to 350 degrees, then serve with crumbled feta cheese.
