  • Slide latches have a flat metal flange that slides out into a groove or slot in the window frame to hold the screen in place. The U-shaped handle of this latch provides an easy grip for extending or retracting the slide latch.
  • Acorn turn latches are plastic latches that fit on the inside of the window screen face (opposite of the spline side). One side has a tab for easy turning, the other side has a slight point that fits into a slot or behind a lip to hold the window screen in place.

How to Measure Your Window Frame or Old Window Screen
Now that you’ve chosen your window screen replacements screen color, frame color, hardware before you run off excitedly to order a new custom aluminum window screen, you’ll need to know what size your screens need to be. The easiest way to do this is to measure your old window screen frames.
  1. Measure the shortest side of your old screen frame.
  2. Measure the longest side of your old screen frame.
  3. Measure the thickness of the screen frame.

However, if you don’t have the window screen frame or it is too damaged, never fear.
  1. Find the lip of your window, which is what will hold your window screen in place. Put the end of the tape measure behind the lip, then measure vertically up to the window screen channel. Note the measurement and add 1/8th of an inch.
  2. Measure the horizontal screen channel, note the measurement, and subtract 1/8th of an inch.
Make sure to measure a second time just in case, so that you can order the exact fit for window screen replacements. This will save you the headache and cost of accidentally ordering the wrong size.

Groupon Helps Us Save With Our Home Beautification

Disclaimer: This is a sponsored post. All opinions are mine.

One week ago, we started with our home renovation. There's nothing major though, it's mostly repainting of walls and some interior designing. So let me change it to home beautification, haha!

It's a do it yourself home beautification project of Daddy A and me. With that, it means we will do all the works to save on labor cost. We agreed to do it slowly once we have time on weekends or weekday nights.

So Daddy started with painting the walls in our kitchen first.

The wall paint was already fading and molds were started to grow. So it badly needs repainting with a good quality paint of course.

Meanwhile, even if I told him he can't help right now because he's still small, this little boy insist he can help by scraping the old wall paints.

Our kitchen walls are almost done and can't wait to show them to you when everything is in it's place. It's still a little messy and needs some re-arrangement.

See I told you it's still messy but I love the color of our wall now. It's cleaner and brighter.

Anyway, when I said home beautification, it means home decorations too. You know mothers like me loves to buy home stuff. So when I browse online and see beautiful home decorations, my heart beats faster than usual. Fortunately, online shopping is available now and much more to that, good deals and discounts too.

When you talk about good deals, I can only think of Groupon Coupons. (Read: Groupon Finding Things To Do Easy and Affordable) And because we are doing a DIY home beautification, I searched for the best deals at Home Decorators.

How to Decorate Small Living Rooms

Here's our son playing and watching at our small living room.

Home improvement is one of goals this year. While we are waiting for our budget, I am already looking for ideas on how we can decorate our small living room. Here are some useful tips.

Large mirror

source
Mirrors can give an illusion that the room is larger than it really is and also adds reflective light. Last December, we already bought a mirror.

Picture frames or art works hang down the wall

source
This is the reason why we opted to buy not an over-sized mirror. We wanted to put picture frames on the space around that mirror.

Wall Shelves

source
I wanted this wall shelves since my son has so many toys to display. But I still can't figure out how we can turn that corner of our living room to something like that.

Corner shelves

source
If the wall shelves above will not be possible, then I'll go with this corner shelves. This will perfectly fit to the corner between the sofa and TV set.

Room divider

source
Use room divider instead of wall. This metal rods, which gives an illusion of a wall, is perfect to separate our living room from our dining area.

The space under the stairs

source
We have an open space under our stairs. I would like that to transform into home office or I'll put shelves in for additional storage area.

source
Convertible table

source
The photo speaks for it self right? This white convertible table can be use as coffee table, office desk and storage. It will definitely save space.

Convertible sofa or sofa bed

source
I have always wanted a sofa bed in our living room. Aside from it can turn into a bed, I like it's wide seats making it comfortable to sit in. Perfect for our crocheting time.

But before you start decorating or renovating, have you checked if you can see out the back door from the front door? If yes, then according to Feng Shui, the chi in your house is flowing straight out of your home. Here's what to do.
I didn't know that too. So I have to check ours when I get home. Get to know more about Feng Shui for homes here: http://www.americanclassichomes.com/blog/feng-shui-for-american-homes/

Another tip: Less is more. That's right! Even taking away some stuff and putting them in a london storage unit can dramatically improve the look of a room!

So there you go some tips on how to decorate  small living rooms. Hopefully, our home improvement will push through. I'll be happy to share that with you soon.

Home Bathroom Design Ideas

Almost seven years ago, we moved in to our newly built house. That's after we got married on the same year. I can't believe seven years have already passed and that two years from now, our house will be fully paid. Yey! Finally, we can save more for some other things like our son's education and a house renovation.

Although our house isn't that old looking yet, there are some parts that I want to undergo renovation. The plan is 1-2 years after our house is fully paid, we will have a house renovation. That will give us more time to plan and save. We want an all-in-one renovation so all the parts of the house that we want to remodel will be covered. It’s difficult to stop in the middle of the construction because you run out of fund, right?

But I am so excited that I am thinking what major changes we will make. The very first part of the house that I really want to remodel is our bathroom. Let me show you our current bathroom/comfort room.

I find our bathroom really small. I want a bigger one with a bathtub. Having a bathtub inside the bathroom is one of my childhood dreams :) Three years or so will pass by quickly so as early as now, I am already looking for bathroom design ideas with contemporary tub, of course. So let me share my top picks for home bathroom design ideas.

bathtub

I super like this design. If only I have a big bathroom that can connect to a lanai, I will choose this design. The built-in square bathtub is large and very spacious. The three of us can fit in like in a small pool.  Just look how elegant it can be too with this design.

bathtub

Again, if the space is not limited, I like this square tub in my bathroom. Anyway, I also like this bathroom design with a triangular built-in bathtub.

bathtub

The bathtub is almost a heart shape. This is perfect for couples, especially during intimate nights, haha! And what about a bathroom design with freestanding bathtubs Canada? The freestanding bathtub can be put in the center just like this.

bathtub

Here's another bathroom design with a freestanding bathtub placed against the wall.

bathtub

With the above design, you may choose a bright color to make the bathroom lively. Oh, look at this one, so nice right?

bathtub

Just change the tiles to off white or gray and it is perfect! Oh my, I can’t wait for the time we can have a bathroom renovation. But wait, I think I find a design that can fit in to our current bathroom area. Look down please!

With a corner bathtub, I can save space. I also love the color scheme. This is perfect for some relaxation like this.

Now, I'm starting to count the days. I am hopeful we can have our house renovation soon after the house is fully paid. I also want to renovate the kitchen since Daddy loves to cook. Also the rooms, particularly my son’s room. By then he might want to sleep in his room.

That’s for now. Next time, I’ll share kitchen design ideas. Enjoy the rest of the day everyone!
