Back to School Shopping List

So sorry for taking so long to post this. I had a trip to Cebu for a conference that I will share once all my back logs are done, haha.

Anyway, let's start with our back to school shopping list. 

Matthew's school gave us a list of school things to buy for Grade 4 students.  First on the list are 11 pieces of composition notebooks. But we bought 13 pieces na at Php 29.75 each.

I chose notebooks with cover na so I don't need to cover it up to save time.

Next naman are from left to right: white board marker (Php 29.75), pencil (3 pieces for Php 24.75), ballpens (Php 11.75 each), dustless eraser (2 pieces for Php 39.75), sharpener (Php 22.75), ruler (Php 19.75), correction tape (Php 36.75), and scissor (Php 19.75).

I chose pala the ruler that is not easily break and is flexible like this.

And this scissor with a 5 year-warranty daw? True kaya? Let's see.

Next are these pencil cases.

Why two? This green pencil case (Php 44.75) is for the crayons.

And this blue pencil case (Php 54.75) is for the pencils, ballpens, eraser and small school things.

On the school shopping list is the sketch pad for Php 34.75 each.

Of course, writing pads for Grade 4 at Php 39.75 per set with 3 pads each.

They are also required to bring long bond papers (20 sheets for Php 19.75) and assorted art paper (20 sheets for Php 19.75).

Also on the list are long brown envelope with cover (Php 26.75) and long white folder with cover (Php 19.75).

This 48-pieces crayons is Php 149.75. Mahal na ano? But it's the quality and safety that matters so okay lang.

Since there are books to cover pa, I bought PVC book wrapper (13.5" x 10 m) at Php 67.75.

Other school essentials not on the list that we bought is this hand sanitizer (Php 69.00) that is personally picked by our little boy.

This folded umbrella is Php 229.75.

And this set of school socks is 3 pairs for Php 199.75.

So let's sum it up:

Total is Php 1586.25. For this new school year we spent around Php 9,000 for the school shopping list including the black school shoes, which will I post soon, and the Robby Rabbit trolley bag that our son personally chose. By the way, his old Robby Rabbit trolley bag was bought 3 years ago pa. He wanted a smaller one this time.

Just to give you a tip mga momshies. Para hindi ka mabigla sa pamimili you can actually buy it ng paunti unti like every sweldo start ka na ng April 15th and there after until mabili mo na lahat. Or better yet, save for it like what we do. What we are doing kasi is we are saving at least Php 3,000 per month for our son's tuition fee and school things. Para pagdating ng new school year hindi tayo masstress sa gastos. Right?

Back to School Tips

Last Thursday, Daddy and I took a leave from work for Matthew's long overdue Japanese Encephalitis vaccine (Read: UPDATED: A vaccine guide (from 0 to 3 years old). He was on vacation for 2 months so the delay. Also, we haven't bought his school stuff yet so sinabay na din.

After our pedia's appointment, we went first to Baker's Hub (that I will make kwento in another post), then to the nearest SM Mall to buy his stuff. Truly, everything's here at SM Supermalls.

At SM Stationery, Matthew chose all his school things listed on his to buy list.

First back to school tip is, go to the mall at weekdays. There are less people shopping and did you know there are more promos and discounts during weekdays? Like this:

Get 10% OFF with a minimum of P2,000 single receipt spend at any branch of the SM Store nationwide. So we got that 10% because Daddy paid for us, hehe.

Aside from Matthew's school things, we also bought him a pair of new black shoes. His old shoes although still in good condition, is already small. So my second back to school tip is buy a pair of shoes with bigger allowance but still is comfortable to wear, or you can buy core pack shoe filler.

After shopping, eating time naman at our favorite KFC.

We are with my sister and his son. My sister is with us until we find a new helper.

Going back to school tips. Be sure to have to buy list for easier and faster shopping. You can save both time and money.

Now I will share the school things the we bought. We bought 9 writing notebooks at 23.75 pesos each.

These Grade 2 pad paper pack of 3 is only 29.75 pesos. We bought 2 packs.

Crayola crayons no 8 is 24.75 pesos. I also bought Sterling crayon that is cheaper at 15.75 pesos. Matthew often lose his crayons e. So another tip is, buy additional school supplies that is cheaper yet of good quality.

Next naman these. Maped Technic Duo erasers is only 14.75 pesos, 3-hole round sharpener at 24.75, Mongol No. 2 pencil (3s) at 21.75 per pack and the plastic ruler  at 16.75 pesos.

These pencil case are at 49.75 pesos for the white one and 39.75 pesos for the red one (for my niece). I chose this and Matthew agreed too because these are more durable as compared to expensive pencil cases that you only pay for the designs. Good thing Matthew didn't mind it.

That makes me share another tip. Tell your kids that aside from the designs, they should also choose school things that are more durable so it will last the whole school year or more. Since I always tell Matthew to be thrifty, he can easily understand what I mean.

Another school requirements are these: long bond paper (20s) at 14.75 pesos, assorted art papers (20s) at 14.75 pesos, long envelope with plastic at 22.75 pesos, long folder with cover at 17.75 pesos and short folder with plastic cover at 15.75.

You will need these too: PVC book wrapper (10m) at 59.75 pesos, scotch tape (3s) at 49.75 pesos and tape dispenser at 79.75 pesos.

Matthew chose this pair of black shoes at 899.75 pesos.

And this pack of 3 pairs of white socks at 189.75 pesos.

Also, I bought him a new aluminum tumbler at 149.75 pesos. One for Matthew and one for my niece.

Then, I saw these Stationery school back pack.

I bought one for my niece.

It's so sulit because it includes these school things na.

This pair of Sugar Kids black shoes is only 299.75 pesos.

How much I spend for Matthew's school things? I spent 1977.50 including his new pair of shoes and socks. I saved from buying new bag since his Robby Rabbit Trolley Bag I bought at Php 4299.75  is still good as new. So another tip is invest on good quality school bag.

Finally, you can spare yourself from worrying about where to get money to buy your kids new school things by religiously saving an allocated amount every month. Remember the 52-Week Money Challenge? You can also do that for school things budget and tuition fee. Just divide the expected back to school expenses and/or the tuition fee and divide it by 10 or 11 months. Start saving as early as now.
